Change 4 Life 'Our Healthy Year' Teacher Toolkits

Reception and Year 6 toolkits that include flexible, fun ideas to build healthy activity into everyday class routines. The activities can be adapted for a range of abilities and settings, and help pupils understand how to keep themselves healthy after they've been weighed and measured in the National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP). This website has classroom physical activity resources - informed by research and developed by teachers.

School Games - Play Formats

A playlist of YouTube videos demonstrating games for children to play. 

British Heart Foundation - Young People Team

A website that has practical downloadable resources relating to getting children and young people active. You will also find links to any training available and case studies of projects that have taken place across the country.

Yorkshire Sport Foundation

 

The Sport England funded County Sports Partnership offers free support, training and resources for primary schools to improve PE, sport and physical activity. They work with community sports clubs and organisations to enhance pathways between school and community sport and can fund satellite clubs for extracurricular activity. The Association of Physical Education (afPE)

The Association for Physical Education (afPE) has been commissioned by Sport England to produce resources comprising a poster highlighting the difference that physical education can make to the pupils in your school and an information leaflet for parents/carers outlining the importance of children and young people being active. afPE recognises how important children and young people’s physical health and emotional well-being are and the relationship between these and academic achievement.

Outdoor Learning

This resource relates Scottish Curriculum Outcomes but the resources section includes ideas and lesson activities that teachers have run to incorporate a range of topics with active, outdoor learning.

Core competencies | PHE School Zone 

The core competencies provide a benchmark for the core skills and knowledge children in KS1 & KS2 should have about nutrition and being active. They are a guide and are not part of the national curriculum.
