Scroll Free September 2020

Scroll Free September highlighs growing concerns that social media is contributing to increasing mental health issues in young people

The Royal Society for Public Health are launching a Scroll Free September lesson plan for use in schools and colleges. The lesson has been developed in partnership with RSPH’s Young Health Champions, based on their experiences of the potential challenges and rewards involved when using social media.

The lesson plan supports learners to explore both the risks and the benefits associated with social media use and to develop strategies to ensure that their relationship with social media is a healthy one. It is accompanied by a Powerpoint presentation, which can also be adapted to be used as an assembly or a form time activity.

The plan has been mapped against the PSHE Association’s Programme of Study for PSHE Education, as well as the draft statutory guidance for the new Relationships, Sex and Health Education curriculum
