DfE launch free period products for all schools and colleges

Free period products are to be made available to all schools and colleges in England, as the Department for Education launches its fully funded scheme

DfE has this week launched a new scheme to provide free period products for all schools and colleges.

The new scheme is set to give pupils easy access to period products at school or college, helping to break down stigmas and ensure no young person’s education is disrupted by their period.

There is a wide range of products available for schools and colleges to select from, including sustainable and eco-friendly products. Once products are delivered, it will be up to school and college leaders to decide how they make products available to learners, in such a way that maximises support and minimises stigma.

Schools and colleges will receive an activation email from the phs Group on Monday 20 January which will enable them to order products for their organisation from the phs Group portal.

More information is provided in the press release from the Department of Education press release.

DfE have also produce a guidance document explaining how the products can be ordered and how to access and implement the scheme effectively.
