Arts Competition 2019 for Young People with Something to Say Festival

About the competition

As part of the Young People with Something to Say Festival, we are running an Arts Competition.

Competition Rules

Written work:

  • This could be for example; a poem, short story or essay
  • Written entries are to be a maximum of 500 words
  • Your competition entry must be about living and growing up in Doncaster

Art work:

  • this could be for example; a painting, sculpture, poster, photograph or digital art
  • submitted art work should be no bigger than A1 in size
  • Your competition entry must be about living and growing up in Doncaster
  • To enter, you should send a copy of your work by email (file or photograph) to the email address below

How to enter:

  • send a copy of your work to SocialScienceFest@doncaster.gov.uk by Monday 28 October 2018 
  • Include:  your name, year group and school
  • If you are under 13 yrs of age, you will need to include your parent/guardian's name and phone number

After the competition closes, a panel of judges will shortlist the entries.  You will contacted by email if you have been shortlisted.  

Shortlisted work will be exhibited at the "young people with something to say" event on Wednesday 6 November 2019. If you have entered a painting or piece of art you will be asked to provide your original work for display at the event.  People who come to the event will be asked to vote and the entries with the most votes will be the winners.

The winners will be announced at 4:30pm on Wednesday 6 November 2019.

Prizes will be given to the shortlisted entries voted in 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

Prizes

1st Prize - £50 shopping voucher

2nd Prize - £30 shopping voucher

3rd Prize - £20 shopping voucher

Doncaster Council will collect your personal information  for the purpose of running the “young people with something to say” arts competition, including letting you know if you are a winner. 

The personal information that we will collect includes; your name, year group, school, (and if you are under 13 – the name and phone number of your parent/guardian)

All shortlisted entries will be displayed during the Young People with Something to Say Festival at Doncaster College.  Your name, school and year group will be displayed alongside your art work.

 

If you are under the age of 13

You will need your parent’s permission to enter this competition, please provide your parent's / guardian’s name and phone number.

If you are shortlisted, we will contact your parent/guardian to ensure that they are happy for you to take part,
