PUPIL LIFESTYLE SURVEY 2018 - Information for Schools

Can you help with testing of new questions?

Since 2015, Doncaster Council has conducted the Pupil Lifestyle Survey, which has provided valuable data on children and young people’s health-related behaviour, through an anonymous school-based questionnaire.   Schools now have the opportunity to take part in the survey annually for the next three years.

The survey has been reviewed and we require some local schools to help with testing them. This will involve some staff checking the questions and then the survey being completed by pupils in the appropriate years. Your participation in this year’s survey would then be complete.

The testing will be carried out in October and if you're school is able to take part please contact us; healthylearning@doncaster.gov.uk

Following the pilot the survey will be launched for all schools in Doncaster. The data from this survey has provided a set of Doncaster-wide figures at key points in children and young people’s development; KS2, 3 and 4. The results have allowed us to more effectively target work with children and young people, and provide an agenda for action into the future.

Why should my school take part?

Taking part over the next three years will provide you with trend data to enable you to identify where change has occurred. The data will also provide you with up-to-date information about the health and wellbeing of the children in your school to allow further targeted work. This provides evidence of school improvement, which is valued as evidence for OFSTED

The survey will enable schools to work more closely with Doncaster Council and other partners to improve the health and well-being of their pupils.

Schools who take part receive:

  • Support from PFA Research Ltd and Public Health right from the start
  • A comparative report highlighting priorities and areas of interest which will also allow benchmarking,
  • Support on how best to use the data
