NEW Oral Health Promotion Resources
Doncaster Public Health has developed Oral Health Promotion resources for primary school children in Doncaster.
Local picture
- Doncaster local authority has levels of decay that are higher than the average for England.
- 1/3 of all children show signs of dental decay.
Why do we need to promote oral health?
- Fewer general anesthetics for tooth decay
- Fewer sleepless nights
- Fewer missed school days and days off work for parents
- Less pain from tooth decay
- Reductions in the numbers of children with tooth decay
- A reduction in the oral health gap for disadvantaged families
Doncaster Public Health has developed 2 resource packages – Key Stage 1(Year 1 and 2) and Key Stage 2 (Year 3 to Year 6). The purpose is to promote good oral health and healthy eating behaviors from the early years of life.
